He said if I came in that day, he could work with me. I told him I could not make it that day, he said he was off the next 2 days but if I wanted the discount I had to come in within the next 2 days. First, you pre-pay for everything up front.

To tell a customer "turn the news on, there are worse things going on than your kitchen cabinets" really deserves someone to be fired in my opinion. That is NOT someone that should be working with the public in customer service, especially for a multi billion dollar company. It is a very poor reflection on the Home Depot.
Home Depot Cabinet Refacing Reviews
Cheap, cheap, cheap looking but VERY expensive. DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT for your cabinet refacing. FAIRFIELD, ALABAMA -- Remodeling 3 rental properties in this area. Went to the local HD to order cabinets, flooring, interior doors and paint.

THE HOME DEPOT® makes sure that the contractors are licensed and insured and have the necessary experience to finish the projects. Customers can schedule an initial in-store appointment with a THE HOME DEPOT® specialist online or call the store directly. In May of 2014 I contracted with Home Depot to do a cabinet refacing of my kitchen cabinets. The contractor they sent out was Hager Conley Construction.
Home Depot Kitchens Company Information
In each department we were treated as if we were interrupting their social life. Saw more than 1 shopper overlooked or ignored while customer of a certain race were placed ahead in lines . Witnessed more than 1 customer leave buggies with item and walk out of the store. We drove many miles farther and did our shopping at a Lowes store. By the way we spent over $17,000.00 on supplies to remodel these properties. The doors and drawer fronts available to refacers today can be second to none in quality.

Several calls later and today is Aug 2nd, HD said our product is lost and there is nothing they can do about it., Too bad. This screw up is costing us $291 per day, but HD and all of their employees don’t care. Do not order anything from HD if they do not have the inventory in the store.
Is it cheaper to reface or replace cabinets?
An employee at HD told us to "have them redo that because it is 100% incorrect" - unfortunately we were unable to have it redone because the back splash. Eventually I heard back that they finally did arrive but were missing the kick plates so the front of the cabinet would not have a finished look. They wanted me to pick them up w/o the kick plates, but I chose to wait until I got the plates, to make sure I got the plates (who wants unfinished cabinets?). I was told they would call me with the status on the kick plates. The Galveston Home Depot is the most unprofessional, rude, incompetent group of individuals I have ever had to deal with. You can't get help in the store and if you do they have no clue how to do their jobs.

We paid Home Depot almost 40,000 dollars last November for a kitchen that was never completed. We were sold a new countertop, backsplash and refinishing of cabinets. Never mind the purchases we made and the demo we started on their instructions. Been with a torn-up kitchen for over four months.
Not due to the delivery or merchandise as that went absolutely HITCH FREE! My issue was due to 'dispatch' not making that 'boasted' 30 minute call, before the delivery arrived. My rating is 5 stars because I believe HD went above and beyond after my last 3 experiences with them. My ratings have gone from an average of .5 stars for 3 purchases, to a 4 star experience.

I was told my measurements couldn't be sent to another location but I could go to the location and pay again for another measurement… WHAT? So reluctantly, I agreed to work with this person in Atlanta. After 4 weeks of back and forth with the design being emailed to me, I decided to visit a store and look at the cabinets suggested. I didn't like them and found one I liked and let Design Connect know of the change. She made the changes and sent me yet another drawing.
So the guy tells me he will have to reorder the items that were wrong. Then the countertop contractor calls to install the countertops. They apologize and say they will contact HD. I have been calling and emailing them every few days. Am I satisfied with the quality of work that was given by Home Depot? I am actually truly disgusted with the customer service we received from a project manager named Peter.

Another thing to keep in mind is the style of your cabinet. If it’s a traditional style, you may want to stick with a traditional refacing material. If your cabinet is more modern, you may want to go with a more modern material.
I worked for a HD sub years ago and our stuff was as good as any. The bigger you are, the less work for them. Getting the granuite done by a granite company, and the refacing done by a specialist refacer might be cheaper, and wuill certainly be better. I think your issues could be dealt with without refacing unless you really just want a new look to the kitchen too. I would get a prettier vent hood, and yes, remove the second stovetop, but it doesn't look bad.
2 minutes into his measurements, he stated that they could not do the countertop, since it needed to be a "custom" job. The freezer door will only open - half way. After much complaining on the hotline they sent someone out a few days later to set it up for me. I was home when it arrived but had to leave.
"Free consultation" sounds like a high pressure sales pitch. Hi Emily, No I have not gotten any responses....surprisingly. There is an extra 10% off of the sale prices starting Dec. 20th....so I think we will be ordering them then.
The cost/benefit analysis gets tricky when you factor in the quality of the existing drawer slides, etc., plus the local economy and cost of living. I've seen some very nice reface jobs that were 1/2 of what the big boxes charge. Went to HD looking, the salesperson wasn't interested when I said I was just looking for now. I found her again & asked about 33 inch wide refrigerators. She went around putting a Post It note on all the 33 in fridges then left again. He let her know I had questions & I know I heard her say something derogatory & then came over.
